Complex wax-ester mixture from sheep sebaceous secretions whose chain-length distribution closely matches human stratum corneum lipids. Forms a semi-occlusive layer that holds twice its weight in water and integrates into the intercellular lipid lamellae rather than sitting on the surface like petrolatum.
